The "Outstanding Student Scholarship" evaluation meeting for graduate students of the China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP) was held on May 16, 2023, at the ZPark Campus. The committee panel consisted of 17 experts, including recommended experts from various training Institutes within our Academy and specially invited experts. Dr. Shaoquan Hu, a researcher from the General Engineering Institute, served as the head of the expert panel. Attendees also included Academician Changpu Sun, the Chairman of the CAEP Degree Evaluation Committee, Associate Dean (in charge of administrative work) Libin Fu from the Graduate School, and relevant teachers from the Graduate School's Student Affairs Office.
At the beginning of the meeting, Academician Changpu Sun, the Chairman of the CAEP Degree Evaluation Committee, delivered a speech. He expressed gratitude to all the teachers for participating in the evaluation meeting for the Outstanding Student Scholarship and fully acknowledged the guiding role of the scholarship evaluation in the training of our Institute's graduate students over the past five years. Academician Sun emphasized that the scholarship evaluation should serve as a lever among the students of our Institute, continuously promoting the improvement of the quality of graduate student education. Research achievements are an important parameter for evaluating the quality of student education and a significant indicator for assessing students. He pointed it out that we must continue to do well in the evaluation of the Outstanding Student Scholarship, ensuring that the evaluation process is open, fair, and just.
The Student Affairs Office presented the evaluation criteria, guidelines, and a summary of applicant materials and verification for this year's Outstanding Scholarship evaluation to the attending experts.
During the evaluation process, under the organization of Prof. Shaoquan Hu, the head of the expert panel, the experts reviewed and discussed the application materials of 101 graduate students based on the evaluation guidelines and voted. In this evaluation meeting, a total of 62 students were awarded the Outstanding Student Scholarship, including 25 recipients of the Special Award and 37 recipients of the Excellent Award. Following the evaluation process, the Graduate School will conduct a 5-day public announcement of the results (public announcement link) and subsequently commend and reward the award-winning graduate students.
Subsequently, the expert panel put forward many constructive opinions and suggestions for the scholarship evaluation work in the next academic year.
Associate Dean Libin Fu from the Graduate School (in charge of administrative work) summarized the evaluation meeting. Firstly, he expressed gratitude to the participating experts for attending the Outstanding Student Scholarship evaluation meeting and for their support of graduate education. Dean Fu pointed out that from the research achievements submitted by the graduate students and the results of the scholarship evaluation, it can be seen that the quality and quantity of research output by graduate students have improved to some extent, indicating a gradual improvement in the quality of graduate student education at our Institute. The evaluation of the Outstanding Student Scholarship has played a significant role in promoting the quality of our Institute's graduate education, and the work we have carried out is highly meaningful. Moving forward, the Graduate School will take into consideration the multidisciplinary and small-discipline situations in our Institute, further improve the evaluation guidelines, ensure their scientific, fair, and operational nature, and make preparations for the smooth convening of the next evaluation meeting. At the same time, the Graduate School will promote outstanding graduate students and provide them with a platform to showcase their achievements.
