On October 14, 2024, the National Natural Science Foundation of China – China Academy of Engineering Physics Joint Fund (NSAF) Key Project (Direction Four) 2024 Annual Exchange Meeting was held in Haikou. The meeting was attended by Academician Changpu Sun, the leader of the NSAF Joint Fund Expert Group, Dongyan Liu, Director of the Scientific Research and Technology Department of CAEP, Project Experts Libin Fu, Researcher, Shifu Xiao, Researcher, Ying Li, Researcher, and Xuefei Guan, Researcher. The meeting was jointly hosted by the Graduate School of CAEP (the responsible unit for Direction Four) and Hainan University, and was chaired by Libin Fu, the Vice Dean of the Graduate School (administrative duties).

At the beginning of the meeting, Academician Changpu Sun of the Graduate School of CAEP delivered the opening speech, welcoming and thanking the project teams and experts attending the exchange meeting. He hoped that everyone would use this meeting as an opportunity to communicate progress, discuss challenges, and promote collaboration, to build momentum for the high-quality completion of the project.

Following this, Director Dongyan Liu briefly introduced the scientific positioning and management requirements of the NSAF Joint Fund, expressing gratitude to the expert group members for their significant contributions to the development of the fund. He also emphasized the importance of the NSAF Joint Fund's management mechanism, which focuses on "demand-driven, addressing common issues, and promoting extensive collaboration," to enhance the capacity for original innovation in national security-related fields.

Baixue Chen, the supervisor of the Scientific Research and Technology Department of CAEP, reviewed the management and implementation of the previous NSAF Joint Fund and focused on introducing the new management reform measures for the current term of the fund.

During the discussion session, Hang Geng, Professor from University of Electronic Science and Technology, Nan Zhao, Researcher from Beijing Computational Science Research Center, Hongwei Li, Professor from Information Engineering University, Jiangtao Chen, Associate Researcher from the China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center, Hui Dong, Researcher from the Graduate School of CAEP, Haiyang Yan, Professor from Ningbo University, and Xiao Yuan, Researcher from Peking University, each provided a report on the progress of their respective project teams. They discussed the key achievements and challenges encountered during the execution of the project with the expert group.

At the end of the discussion session, Researcher Libin Fu pointed out that internal collaboration within each project team should be strengthened, effective and regular communication mechanisms should be established, task objectives should be consolidated, core issues should be addressed, and the high-quality completion of the project should be ensured.

As the responsible unit for Direction Four of the NSAF Joint Fund, the Graduate School of CAEP has always attached great importance to regular exchanges and process tracking for each project in this direction. The annual exchange meetings organized by Direction Four have become an important platform and communication link for project teams to report on progress, showcase research achievements, and consolidate scientific objectives.
