To further enhance fire safety awareness among all faculty and students and improve fire emergency response capabilities, on November 8, 2024, the Graduate School’s General Office, together with the Sichuan Region Science-Education Collaborative Comprehensive Support Center, organized the 'National Fire Safety, Life Above All' fire prevention and evacuation emergency drill activities in both Beijing and Sichuan.
The emergency drill activity in the Beijing region was conducted at the North Campus of the Software Park. At 11 a.m., the drill officially began. Upon discovering a fire in the basement-level two garage, the patrolling personnel quickly pressed the fire alarm button in the corridor and immediately called the Fire Monitoring Center to report the location of the fire and basic details.
The Monitoring Center immediately followed the emergency plan, notifying personnel from the mini fire station to arrive at the fire site for initial handling. As the fire spread rapidly and became uncontrollable, the Monitoring Center promptly broadcasted an evacuation announcement to all personnel in the building and dialed 119 to report the fire.
Upon hearing the evacuation announcement, the emergency evacuation team immediately opened the safety passage doors on their assigned floors and guided people to evacuate in an orderly manner towards the nearest exits, dividing the flow to the east and west sides, and directing them to safe areas. The equipment support team members rushed to the high-voltage distribution room and the electrical control room to cut off the power supply to the affected areas. The evacuation of personnel and all emergency response actions within the building were completed within 5 minutes.
After the drill, the teachers and students personally operated fire extinguishers to practice firefighting, and they also learned how to use self-rescue breathing apparatus on-site.
