On April 27, 2023, the inaugural meeting of the Academic Development Committee of the Graduate School of China Academy of Engineering Physics (GSCAEP) was held at the North Campus of the Software Park. Over 20 academicians, including Academicians Ma Yugang, Xiang Tao, Sun Changpu, Ouyang Qi, Luo Minxing, Zhao Zhengguo, Hu Xiaomian, Gao Yuanning, Tang Li, and Chang Kai, both from within and outside the academy, attended the meeting either in person or remotely. The meeting was also attended by Ni Jialiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Graduate School, Fu Libin, Vice President in charge of administrative work, Liang Guiyan, Vice President, as well as scientific researchers and some administrative staff.

  During the meeting, Secretary Ni Jialiang delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the Graduate School, expressing warm welcome and gratitude to the academicians and experts present. He congratulated the establishment of the Academic Development Committee and provided background information on its formation. Since its establishment in 2015, the Graduate School has shouldered the dual tasks of scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation. After eight years of development, it has evolved from a single educational management department into a research and teaching entity with management and service functions, making significant progress in both scientific research and education. In order to promote academic democracy, strengthen the construction of academic environment, and facilitate the innovative development of scientific and educational undertakings in the Graduate School, the Academic Development Committee of CAEP Graduate School was officially established this year. The development of the nuclear weapons industry in the new era has placed higher and more comprehensive requirements on the Graduate School, and it is hoped that the committee members can contribute their insights and provide continuous support in decision-making and consultation.

    Deputy Dean Fu Libin of the Graduate School announced the list of members of the Academic Development Committee. Academician Sun Changpu was appointed as the Director of the Academic Development Committee, and Academician Jiang Song was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Academic Development Committee. Experts such as Academician Ma Yugang and Wang Xu, totaling 29 members, were appointed as members of the Academic Development Committee. Deputy Dean Fu Libin and Academician Sun Changpu presented certificates to the committee members present at the meeting.

  Following the establishment ceremony, Academician Sun Changpu presided over the first meeting of the Academic Development Committee. He provided an overview of the overall development of the Graduate School in recent years, covering development positioning and organizational structure, construction of scientific research and education talent teams, initial achievements in scientific research and education, as well as future development prospects and ideas. The participants engaged in discussions and exchanges, and put forward guiding opinions and suggestions on curriculum systems, discipline construction, mentor team building, talent cultivation, research directions, and academic exchanges.

  In conclusion, Vice President Fu Libin summarized the meeting and expressed gratitude for the comprehensive and insightful suggestions provided by the academicians and experts. He emphasized that the Graduate School should broaden its horizons internally and externally, play a bridge and link role between the main tasks of the academy and basic research, and hoped that the committee members would continue to support the development of the Graduate School and contribute to the high-quality development of the talent chain in the China Academy of Engineering Physics.
