During the Qingming Festival, as willow trees sway gently in the wind, we reflect on history and remember our predecessors. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the successful detonation of China’s first atomic bomb and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jiaxian Deng, the former president of the Ninth Institute. On the morning of April 2, young members from the Beijing district stood solemnly in front of Jiaxian Deng 's statue, reflecting on his life, recalling stories of his work, learning about the story behind the statue, and ceremoniously offering flowers to deeply commemorate Jiaxian Deng, the “Father of China’s Two Bombs” and former president of the institute.
This event was co-organized by the Youth League Committees of the Ninth Institute and the Graduate School. The participating youth league members collectively reminisced about Jiaxian Deng’s dedication to his career, gained insights into the qualities and spirit of Deng and other senior scientists, and were inspired to strive forward with determination and courage, aiming to reach new heights in scientific and technological innovation.
