To further promote the exchange of outstanding scientific research achievements among our graduate students, strengthen interdisciplinary training, enhance research and innovation capabilities, and create a good academic atmosphere, the Fourth Boyou Forum of the CAEP Graduate School was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan, from June 17 to 20, 2024.

The forum featured keynote speeches, academic reports from graduate students, and poster presentations. The call for submissions received an unprecedented response, with over 170 people registering for the event. After review, 123 abstracts were selected, including 40 oral presentations and 83 poster presentations.

On June 18, nearly 200 experts, scholars, and graduate students gathered for the forum. The opening ceremony was attended by Yi Zhang, Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department; Gang Zeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Chengdu Science Center; Libin Fu, Deputy Dean (acting) of the Graduate School; and Jianhui Shan, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School. It was hosted by Jianhui Shan.

Libin Fu, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School, first delivered a welcome speech to the participating experts, mentors, and graduate students. He noted that the number of participants has been increasing over the past four years, and the content of the reports has become more exciting, making the forum a branded event for academic exchange among our graduate students. This year marks the 40th anniversary of our graduate education, making this forum particularly significant as part of the celebration. He hoped that everyone would fully enjoy the fruits of graduate education through enthusiastic dialogue and exchange, and savor the essence and charm of scientific research through academic collision and integration, learning from each other and progressing together.

Gang Zeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Chengdu Science Center, congratulated the forum and thanked the Human Resources Department and the Graduate School for their guidance and support of the graduate education at the center. He introduced the recent developments at the Chengdu Science Center and the Galaxy 596 Park. He expressed that the center would further promote the integration of science and education and collaborative innovation, contributing to the high-quality development of graduate education at our institute.

Yi Zhang, Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department, in his speech, highlighted that graduate students are an important part of the institute's human resources and a crucial force supporting the institute's basic research. In the new era, the high-quality development of the nuclear weapons industry sets new and higher requirements for our graduate education. He hoped that the Graduate School would advance the collaboration of science and education based on its new mission and cultivate and select talents well. He expected the Boyou Forum to play a greater role in enhancing the exchange of outstanding research achievements, promoting interdisciplinary research, and fostering the scientific spirit and innovative abilities of graduate students. He encouraged the graduate students to make full use of this academic exchange platform to conduct in-depth exchanges, spark ideas, and demonstrate a new spirit of pursuing scientific literacy and improving innovative capabilities.

During the forum, invited speakers included Researcher Wei Kang from Peking University, Deputy Director Yuxi Fu from Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Associate Researcher Dong Wang from the Institute of General Engineering of CAEP, and Assistant Researcher Yimu Du from the Graduate School of CAEP. They delivered keynote speeches on four themes: high-temperature and high-pressure equations of state, high-energy attosecond light sources, structural nonlinear dynamics, and quantum reliability. The session was chaired by Researcher Shuai Maobing, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Institute of Materials Research.

The forum had two sub-venues based on disciplines, with 40 graduate students delivering oral presentations in six sessions. Each session was chaired by an expert, with 6-7 graduate students presenting their research, covering various advantageous disciplines of the institute. Presenters passionately showcased their research findings, while mentors offered valuable comments and guidance. The participating graduate students actively engaged in questions and discussions, broadening their horizons, enhancing their knowledge, and promoting exchanges through free communication and in-depth discussion.

The poster presentation and exchange session was conducted in a buffet style, with 83 posters displayed in four groups, chaired by Researcher Yu Chen from the Graduate School. Participants discussed and exchanged academic ideas while enjoying food, sparking new viewpoints and thoughts.

The closing ceremony was held on the afternoon of June 19. Yanzhen Zhang, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, delivered a summary. She highly praised the excellent presentations and heated discussions of the students, hoping they would continue to strengthen communication and exchange ideas after the forum, growing together. Awards were presented to the eight winners of the "Outstanding Poster Presentation Award," including Hanxu Zhang, Yixiu Bai, Yingying Zhao, Kai Wang, Jiaqin Liu, Wei Huang, Tianyu Li, and Wenkai Yu.

Over its four sessions, the Boyou Forum has grown from its initial stages to a mature branded event for academic exchange among our graduate students, showcasing the strength of our graduate education. Each year, students exchange academic ideas, display their talents, and broaden their academic horizons at the forum. The Graduate School will continue to host a variety of academic exchange activities, including lectures by academicians and experts, special lectures by mentors, and academic exchange meetings for graduate students, to effectively support the growth and success of our graduate students.
