On June 24, the 2025 Graduate Commencement and Degree Conferment Ceremony of the Institute was held at the Kowloon Hotel. The event was attended by Ming Huang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Institute; Qiang Wu, Academician, Deputy Director of the Institute’s Science and Technology Committee and Vice Chair of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee; Kaiding Wei, Director of the Human Resources Department and the International Cooperation and Exchange Department; Jialiang Ni, Secretary of the Graduate School Party Committee and Executive Vice Dean; Libin Fu, Member of the Graduate School Party Committee and Vice Dean (presiding over administrative work); as well as leaders, faculty advisors, and graduate program coordinators from various training units in Sichuan. Together with more than 200 graduates of the Class of 2025, they witnessed this grand occasion.

The ceremony was chaired by Jialiang Ni.

The proceedings officially opened with the solemn strains of the national anthem.

On behalf of the Institute, Ming Huang extended his warmest congratulations to all graduates, his highest respect to the dedicated faculty advisors, and heartfelt gratitude to all staff who have quietly contributed to graduate education. He noted that 2025 marks a critical juncture: the conclusion of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and the blueprinting of the “15th Five-Year Plan.” As emerging forces in the nation’s scientific and technological enterprise, graduates of the Institute shoulder the responsibilities and missions of this new era. Ming Huang shared three hopes for the graduates:

To carry forward the “Two Bombs Spirit,” persevere in struggle, and let the light of faith illuminate their path forward; to remain innovative and enterprising, using the key of creativity to unlock the doors of the future; to embrace a spirit of diligence, stay grounded, and write a splendid chapter of life through hard work.

He encouraged students to move forward without pause, always remembering the honor of being a member of the Institute, to make meaningful contributions to the country, the people, and society, and to grow into the towering pillars of the new era.

Libin Fu read the Degree Conferment Decision and the list of graduates to be awarded degrees.

Academician Qiang Wu conducted the tassel-turning and degree-conferring ceremony for PhD and Master’s graduates in Sichuan. With the tassel-turning completed, the students formally concluded their graduate studies, received their new academic identity, and prepared to embark on new posts to meet new tasks and missions.

Jialiang Ni announced the Decision on Commending Recipients of the 2025 Institute Graduate “Outstanding Student Scholarship” and the Institute “Outstanding Graduate Advisor” Award as well as the Decision on Commending the “Outstanding Graduates” of the Class of 2025, together with the list of awardees.

Kaiding Wei presented honorary certificates to Hanxu Zhang, representative of the Outstanding Student Scholarship recipients; Hao Chen, representative of the Outstanding Graduates; and Researcher Jianbo Hu, representative of the Outstanding Graduate Advisors.

Hao Chen, a doctoral graduate in Engineering Mechanics and representative of the graduating class, delivered a speech. He reflected that his four years of study at the Institute had been a journey of exploring the unknown, meeting challenges, and striving for breakthroughs, as well as a process of intellectual refinement illuminated by the “Two Bombs Spirit.” He called on his fellow graduates to remember General Secretary Xi Jinping’s exhortations, uphold the patriotic education of the Institute, cherish the “Two Bombs Spirit,” shoulder the responsibilities of the times, grow through hard work, and realize their personal value and youthful brilliance on the great journey of national rejuvenation.

Researcher Jianbo Hu, speaking as a representative of faculty advisors, addressed the graduates. Looking back as an alumnus on his own studies at the Institute twenty years ago, he recalled the inspiration of the “Two Bombs and One Satellite” spirit, the mission of serving the country’s strategic scientific needs, the rigorous and pragmatic scientific ethos, and the collective power of collaborative research—precious assets bestowed upon every graduate. Speaking now as an advisor, he expressed heartfelt hopes and warm congratulations to the graduates who are about to embark on new paths:

“Though the road ahead may be long and winding, never forget that the Institute will always be your steadfast support and spiritual home. We look forward to your return, to share your achievements and joy, and to pass on new wisdom and strength. Wherever you go, may you proudly say, ‘I am a member of the Institute!’ This imprint is not only an honor but also a responsibility and a call to action. I wish you all a bright future, great success, and a happy graduation.”
