To promote the exchange of outstanding research achievements among graduate students, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, cultivate scientific spirit and innovation ability, and foster a strong academic atmosphere, the Fifth “Boyou Forum” of the Graduate School of the China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP) was successfully held in Mianyang, Sichuan, from June 21 to 24.
This year’s forum featured plenary presentations, parallel-session oral presentations, and poster sessions. During the call-for-papers stage, over 120 students registered for participation, and 119 abstracts were accepted. After review, 40 oral presentations and 57 posters were selected.
The opening ceremony took place on the morning of June 22. Attendees included Yi Zhang, Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department; Libin Fu, Vice Dean of the Graduate School (acting administrative head); Meng Qian, Deputy Secretary of the CAEP Youth League Committee; faculty representatives; and graduate education administrators from CAEP’s training units.
In his welcome address, Vice Dean Libin Fu warmly greeted the experts, supervisors, and students. He noted that over the past five years, the “Boyou Forum” had grown from its inception into a hallmark event for CAEP graduate academic activities. Moving forward, the Graduate School will continue to focus on fostering interdisciplinary integration and cultivating the collaborative, innovative spirit of graduate students, summarizing experiences from previous forums to create more high-quality academic exchange platforms.
Deputy Director Yi Zhang remarked that the forum is a carefully built platform designed for current graduate students to exchange academic ideas. He encouraged students to make full use of this opportunity to communicate deeply, collide intellectually, and demonstrate scientific literacy and innovation capabilities, showcasing the improving quality of CAEP graduate education.
Deputy Secretary Meng Qian emphasized that the forum provides CAEP graduate students with a high-level, broad-vision, multidisciplinary platform. He reaffirmed the Youth League Committee’s strong support for youth-driven scientific and technological innovation, urging students to live up to the call of the times, pursue truth courageously, and stand at the forefront of scientific innovation.
This year’s plenary presentations were delivered by three invited speakers: Feng Zhang from the Eighth Institute, Kuo Li from the High-Tech Center, and Xu Wang from the Graduate School. Their talks covered topics including laser muon source research for science and engineering applications, high-pressure chemical synthesis and intelligence, and the transition from “strong-field atomic physics” to “strong-field nuclear physics.” The reports were academically rich and stimulated intense discussion among participants.
Following the plenary session, two parallel sessions were held, covering 14 CAEP disciplines. Forty speakers gave oral presentations divided into six segments, with invited experts serving as session chairs. Presenters actively showcased their research, while experts and students engaged in lively questioning and discussion. In particular, the cross-disciplinary presentations sparked real-time exchanges with presenters, broadening academic horizons and enhancing knowledge sharing.
The poster session, moderated by Xu Wang of the Graduate School, featured 57 posters displayed in two groups. Participants engaged in vigorous discussion around the research work presented. Voting channels for experts and students were opened to select the best posters, encouraging active participation.
The closing ceremony was held on the afternoon of June 23. Yanzhen Zhang, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, highly praised the quality of the presentations and discussions, encouraging students to absorb and build on the forum’s results and to continue exchanging ideas after the event. At the ceremony, Vice Dean Libin Fu presented the “Outstanding Poster Award” to six winners (in no particular order): Haitao Zhang, Shen Qiao, Yinli Xu, Yixiu Bai, Guojiangnan Bi, and Yi Cao.
The “Boyou Forum” has become not only a signature academic event of the CAEP Graduate School but also a grand gathering showcasing the research achievements of CAEP graduate students. Year after year, students exchange ideas, display their talents, and expand their academic horizons through this platform. The Graduate School will continue to organize diverse academic programs—such as the Academician Lecture Series, Graduate Academic Seminars, and Discipline-Based Symposia—to provide multi-tiered academic exchange opportunities and better serve the growth and success of CAEP graduate students.
