At 9:00 a.m. on September 3, 2025, a grand ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important speech and reviewed the armed forces. GSCAEP organized all faculty members, new students of the Class of 2025, and senior students to watch the live broadcast of the ceremony collectively.

During the procession, formations marched across Tiananmen Square in the following order: the airborne flag-escort echelon, the marching formations, the battle-flag formations, the equipment formations, and the aerial formations. The equipment formations, the highlight of the review, consisted of the land operations group, naval operations group, air-defense and missile-defense group, information operations group, unmanned systems group, logistics support group, and strategic strike group. All equipment on display was domestically produced, currently deployed main battle equipment, showcasing China’s system-of-systems combat capability, new-domain and new-quality combat forces, and strategic deterrence strength. In particular, the strategic missile formations—representing the nation’s most powerful assets—demonstrated the leapfrog development and historic achievements of China’s weapons and equipment industry, a legacy shaped by the wisdom and dedication of generations of CAEP personnel.

After the event, faculty and students were deeply moved and filled with pride. The military parade not only commemorated the great victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, but also served to carry forward and promote the great spirit of resistance. It inspired the entire nation to unite and strive to advance China’s modernization and the historic cause of strengthening the country and rejuvenating the nation. Everyone felt the profound strength of China’s prosperity and national defense, as well as deep respect for the mission and accomplishments of CAEP. The experience further strengthened students’ sense of responsibility embodied in the belief: “A strong nation depends on me.”

To provide students with a meaningful “first red lesson” of the new semester, GSCAEP organized all 2025 new students to visit Lugou Bridge and the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression on September 2. This series of activities plays an important role in fostering graduate students to become inheritors of the “Two Bombs Spirit.”
